Is it just me or does anyone think that the Oscars are a wee bit overrated? That being said, Heath deserves his Oscar.

The Last Don

Wow! What an amazing read. Just finished reading it. The depth of the plot,and the way each character is etched is so uniquely Puzo. The attention to detail is amazing!  Wonder how a movie based on this book will turn out. ‘Omerta’ or ‘The Sicilian’ is the next Puzo i am goin to read.

Marriage

Last week, I left from college in a city bus.Just then, a really drunk,deeply disturbed man boards the bus,and unfortunately sits right next to me. He calls up his wife and says he is never coming back home, and he can have his ‘sothu‘ . Then he gives his 2 cents worth about marriage. “When I was in love, I was with her everytime,and never wanted to leave her, now all I want to do is get as far away from her as possible.” Irony it seems. That’s not irony, that’s marriage.

Anna University results

Someone started a rumour that results for the fourth year students were due on 5th january. And they gave a blog link for verification. And more than half the fools in my class believed it. Engineering padichu enna projanam! Shebba!

You see, there are usually about 3-4 fake calls, before the results actually come. The first rumour is usually during the holidays, and some sad ass wants you not to have fun,and so sends a text message that university results will be published as soon as college reopens. What to do? Delete that message, of course.

The second rumour starts after college has reopened, 2 weeks into the new semester. This usually happens while all the students are in college. Everyone calls everyone he/she knows, arts college students,people who have not come to college that day, etc… Again,what do we do? Sit and have a laugh while all others are running around.

The third rumour is actually pretty close to actually being true. This starts 3-4 days before the results are actually put up. ‘Results will come today/tomorrow’ This time what do we do? Make sure its the third rumour,and be wait for the results to come within the next 5 days.

And when the results do come, no one believes it. Like last time, when it was published at 5 in the morning. Dumb pricks!

This sounds strangely like the story  ‘the boy who cried wolf’.

P.S: A little hint. This time results will be put up during the second week of february.

A controlly/bossy guy/girl who ll get on everyones nerves

Beginning to watch ‘Monk’ and ‘Psych’. Getting tired of others.Scrubs is still superb! Thinking of watching ‘How I met your mother’ and ‘Boston Legal’.

DWM

Data Mining and Warehousing… What a “screw all” paper. Anna Universtiy has taken screwing to whole new level. I didn’t know they had another level. Hope I pass ,or hope everyone fails . A bit sadistic, I know.

On that sweet note, farewell to Ganguly. I’ve always been a big fan of him and his attitude.

Dasavatharam

Well, despite many people claiming otherwise, this movie is good, very good if you ask me. Kamal Hasan, there is nothing this man can’t do,acting wise. The movie might have disappointed many, but not me. You see, I went to Mayajal at 1.30 pm, did not get the ticket, and finally saw the 7 pm show at Aradhana. Every person I saw in that 5 and 1/2 hour period told me the movie was pretty average. Must have been the reason I enjoyed it. I did not expect much, and thus enjoyed it more. Nice no? The film tries to touch people on a religious level. Asin’s character can get on your nerves a bit, shouting “ennoda perumal” every 15 secs. At one point,I even shouted “saniyanae” . The best part was , they did not overdo the stunts, like Anniyan or Ghajini. Each and every character of Kamal is well portrayed. Even George Bush’s stupidity is shown, when he says “Can’t we just drop a nuclear bomb on it” .The ‘it’ being a … Ah, I don’t want to spoil the fun. Every character has his moment. Some scenes have semblances of English movies attached to it, like the dialogue ” You talkin’ to me” (from Taxi Driver),and the part where he takes the vial out, and then throws the statue in the air to escape (from The Da Vinci Code). But, I just loved the scene where the ex-CIA agent and the Japanese face off.

Ha ha! Brilliant!

Definitely worth the money,for Kamal’s performance alone.

Federer vs Nadal

Now,dont these two get tired of seeing each other?If they meet each other on the streets as frequently as they did in tournament finals,I’m sure they would have been in a “serious” relationship by now.

Somebody up there hates me

After 4 days of constant nagging and begging, my friend brings his Visual Studio installation cd. It was of no use.Apparently, it was too “old” for Vista!

Ok,I’ll just download the latest version. I downloaded the express edition, and it was nowhere near like the one i worked with in my college. And it doesn’t have MFCApplication Wizard template.

And after a lot of searching,I find the standard edition.I set my alarm. Wake up at 2(all downloads must be done only between 2-8 to avoid a huge bill,which would result in me being chased out of the house) . Start the download. Go back to sleep.Next morning at 7, I find that installation has only been completed 75%.And estimated time remaining was another 2 hours. And here’s the kicker- it aint like torrents where you can pause and resume download.

Yup,someone up there hates me.
